Design intern at an AI startup

Company Overview
We are a forward-thinking tech startup, founded by experienced technology, security, and design specialists with four successful exits. Disturbed by the lack of trust in traditional messaging platforms — especially for businesses — we built a new standard: one where users control their data, not platform owners.

Our tool empowers businesses and individuals to communicate securely and privately, whether sharing sensitive documents or personal media. Beyond industry-standard end-to-end encryption and geofencing, we are the only app of our kind to feature continuous facial recognition — verifying not just the device, but the person using it.

About the Role
We are looking for a Design Intern who is a creative powerhouse with the discipline to manage and uphold brand standards across a wide range of outputs. You will play a critical role in creating visual assets for our product UI, marketing materials, sales presentations, and social media, working in both static and video formats.

We need individuals with sharp attention to detail, passion for design and business, and the courage to drive high standards consistently. The right person will be a natural leader — confident in their creative instincts but able to operate within strategic brand guidelines and collaborate with a broader team.

If you are passionate about creating impactful visuals that enhance user experiences and tell compelling brand stories, this opportunity is for you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce high-quality UI/UX designs, graphics, and marketing assets across multiple platforms.

  • Create static and video content for sales presentations, product applications, and online channels.

  • Maintain and evolve brand guidelines, ensuring consistency across all internal and external communications.

  • Work with leadership and the sales team to translate business needs into clean, engaging design solutions.

  • Utilize tools like Figma, Canva, and AI-based design platforms to accelerate creative production.

  • Contribute to the overall visual identity of the company, offering ideas that enhance brand perception and user engagement.

  • Manage multiple design projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Ideal Profile

  • Strong graphic design skills, with a portfolio that shows a disciplined approach to brand management and creativity.

  • Proficient with Figma, Canva, and AI-generated imagery tools.

  • Skilled at both static and video content creation.

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to prioritize and manage deadlines effectively.

  • Courageous and confident — willing to lead visual projects but able to align with the broader business vision.

  • Passionate about building a brand from the ground up within a tech-driven startup.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Internship Details

  • Duration: 6 months

  • Location: Remote (preferably UK or Portugal, GMT time zone), with the possibility of working onsite in Portugal.

  • Compensation: Paid — details to be discussed during interviews

This is more than a design internship — it’s a chance to shape the visual identity of a cutting-edge company, working alongside seasoned professionals in technology, security, and business. If you are ready to take on real responsibility, lead visually, and push creative boundaries, we’d love to hear from you.
